We may not have the Cafe at the Crook Inn yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get together, virtually speaking! If you fancy a coffee and a blether, the Tweedsmuir virtual Community Cafe is now open! I’m afraid it is BYOC (bring your own cake)

Virtual cafe - Bring your own cakeStarting on Tuesday, you will be able to join a drop-in session on Zoom, meet up with other villagers, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee together from the socially isolated comfort of your own home…

Opening hours – updated May 10th

More sessions may be added in future, according to demand and feedback.

Sunday 7.30 PM to 8.30 PM, hosted by Lesley and Andrew Mason

Of all the initial sessions, Sunday evening – generally with some sort of quiz activity – has proved the most popular.

You can help with the future schedule by completing a very brief and anonymous Facebook survey (external link will open in a new browser window)

New to Zoom?

If you aren’t already familiar with Zoom, it is quite straightforward to use.

You need a computer, tablet or smartphone and internet access.

Sign up for a free account on the Zoom website (www.zoom.us). From the site you can download Zoom onto your computer/laptop, or download the Zoom app onto your mobile device from your usual app-store.

Launch the app when you want to visit the virtual cafe, and click or tap the blue “join a meeting” button. You will then be prompted to write in the meeting ID number and click or tap the blue “join” button.

You will also be asked for a password – Zoom has just introduced this measure to provide more security for users.
