Tweedsmuir Community Company are putting together a series of talks on subjects relevant to our community. Usually they would run a series of events through the winter months to give us all a chance to get together and learn more about our wonderful village and its surrounding area.

As we can’t get together, they are going to be running a series of ZOOM events instead, open to everyone in our community, and covering a range of topics.

The next talk is on Friday 27th November at 7.30 pm.

Talla Reservoir – Matthew and Cheryl Toomey

Zoom Meeting ID: 863 6415 6258

If you would like any help getting Zoom up and running, please get in touch.

Talla Reservoir may be one of the most photographed views in Tweedsmuir, and it is undoubtedly beautiful.

Matthew and Cheryl will run through the history of Talla Reservoir, having investigated the stories and press coverage surrounding the Dam.

The presentation will cover the build up to the scheme and look at the railway built to allow the dam’s construction.

I hope you can join us for an evening learning about our local history from the comfort of you own armchair!

Most interesting to have learned more about my great-grandfather!

I really enjoyed the talk too, John, though I have no historical connections with Tweedsmuir or Talla. Always gives an extra element of interest, though, if you can see a role played by one of your forebears!
